ペーテル・ルンクヴィスト (1965- )：コメディア組曲 (2017/19) Peter Lönnqvist (1965- ): "Suite Commedia" for piano (2017/19) ピアノ：小川至 Piano: Itaru Ogawa 0:00 No. 1: ピエロ　Pierrot (2017) 2:37 No. 2: コロンビーナ　Colombina (2017) 4:56 No. 3: ハーレクイン　Harlequin (2019) ペーテル・ルンクヴィスト (1965- ) ペーテル・ルンクヴィストはフィンランドのピアニストである。演奏活動の傍ら、ピアノのための教育・作曲・編曲も行っている。シベリウス音楽院にて、1990年に修士の学位を得て卒業。その後、パリとミュンヘンにて研鑽を積む。ソリスト・アンサンブル奏者として、フィンランドをはじめ、ドイツ、ポーランド、エストニア、ロシア、そして日本において、国際的な演奏活動を展開している。現在、ラハティ・コンセルヴァトリーにて教鞭を執る。 　「コメディア組曲」はイタリア発祥の喜劇であるコメディア・デラルテから着想を得た作品であり、それぞれの性格を持った役柄（ストック・キャラクター）を曲名とした3曲で構成されている。 　第1番「ピエロ」は、夢想家で、繊細な性格を持つ。その純粋さのために、しばしば愚かな行為を重ねてしまう。本作品では、ピエロの持つ不気味で暴力的な性格を強く押し出している。 　第2番「コロンビーナ」は無学ながら生まれ持った知恵を持っており、しばしばその身体的魅力で周囲を惹き付ける。この作品ではそうしたロマンティックな性質が、Langoureux（悩ましげに）の指示とともに表されている。なお本作は「ルイス・パスクエ※のオマージュ」との副題も持っている。 　第3番「ハーレクイン」は軽業師・道化師である。しばしば詐欺師として表されるが、その心までが非道ではないとされる。フランスではアルルカン、イタリアではアルレッキーノとも呼ばれている。本作品はピアニストの小川至に献呈された。 （※ルイス・パスクエ (1917-2013)：ウルグアイで生まれ、1974年よりフィンランド国籍を得た作曲家。タンゴの大家として愛されていた。） Peter Lönnqvist (1965- ) Peter Lönnqvist is a Finnish pianist, who has devoted his time between teaching, composing and arranging music for the piano. He graduated from the Sibelius Academy of Music with a master's degree in 1990. He subsequently studied in Paris and Munich. He has performed internationally as a soloist and ensemble player in Finland, Germany, Poland, Estonia, Japan and Russia. He currently teaches at the Lahti Conservatory. 　"Suite Commedia" are inspired by the Italian comedy "Commedia dell'arte" and consist of three pieces, each named after a stock character. 　'Pierrot' is a dreamer, with a sensitive character. Due to his purity, he often commits a series of foolish acts. In this piece, the eerie and violent character of the Pierrot is strongly emphasised. 　'Colombina' is uneducated but possesses innate wisdom and often attracts others with her physical charm. Such romantic qualities are expressed in this work with the instruction Langoureux (annoyingly). The work also has the subtitle 'Hommage á Louis Pasquet'*. 　'Harlequin' is a lightweight and clown. Often represented as an impostor, but not outrageous to his heart. He is also known as Arlequin in France and Arlecchino in Italy. This work was dedicated to the pianist Itaru Ogawa. (*Luis Pasquet (1917-2013): born in Uruguay, composer who became a Finnish citizen in 1974. He was a much-loved tango master).

She was born in Helsinki, the eldest of seven children of her father, a pastor. Her father died when she was 16, and the family moved to Kokkola, a town in central Finland on the Gulf of Bothnia, but in 1919 she returned to Helsinki and began her studies at the Helsinki Music Institute (now the Sibelius Academy). At the institute, she studied piano with Ingeborg Hymander, Ilmari Hannikainen, and Ernst Linko, and composition with Erkki Mellartin. Among other things, Melartin had a great influence on her and supported her development and career in various aspects. Later, Helvi became a member of the Ruusu-Risti Society, an organization in Finland that espoused theosophy, probably due to the influence of Melartin. After graduating from Helsinki Music Institute, Helvi spent a year in Vienna in 1928 studying composition with Arthur Willner, and after returning to Finland, she continued to study privately with Leevi Madetoja and Leo Huntek. 　While composing, she worked as a librarian and music librarian at the Sibelius Academy from 1933 to 1968, and as a music critic from 1957 to 1961, writing essays on music, religion, and art for a living. She died of a heart attack on August 12, 1982 in Helsinki at the age of 80. 　In addition to his three symphonies, Leiviska composed three orchestral suites, a piano concerto, various solo pieces, and music for the film "Juha". Her music has shifted from the elegance of late Romanticism in her early years to a more polyphonic and linear approach. This development can be seen in his three symphonies, the last of which is the most free in tonality. In addition, he was also awarded honorary professorships from Yale University and the University of Helsinki. However, due to the outbreak of World War I in the same year, Sibelius was unable to perform abroad. His activities and publishing were greatly restricted, resulting in a severe economic crisis. In these circumstances, Sibelius sold many piano works and small pieces for some instruments to Finnish publishers for earning money. 　"The Spruce" was also born out of such motivation. Although it was all composed in 1914, it passed through various publishers without ever being published in the confusion of the war. Finally, No. 1 was published in 1921 by the British publisher Augener Ltd., and Nos. 2 to 4 were published in 1921 by the British publisher J. & W. Chester. In 1922, No. 5 was published by Wilhelm Hansen in Denmark in a new "Second Edition" of all five works. 　"The Trees" published by Zen-on Music Publisher contains Edition Wilhelm Hansen of the No. 1 and No. 5, and J. & W. Chester of the Nos. 2~4. Many of these scores were not checked by Sibelius, and many of them contain notable errors in their notation. Westerlund. 　In this copyright transfer, Sibelius made significant changes to "The Spruce", and in August of the same year It was sent straight to R.E.Westerlund from Sibelius, but it was not published. Then it was finally published in 1922 from Edition Wilhelm Hansen. This is the "current version" of the widely performed "The Spruce". 　The most significant difference is the tonality. The earlier version was written in E flat minor, while the current version is in B minor. The addition of a dramatic interlude and a introduction with arpeggio has resulted in a significant performance effect. As a result, the music is more spectacular, but looking at the earlier version again, the loneliness of the wild spruce seems to deepen, I also feel a different kind of attraction. 　Both the earlier and current version was included in Volume 2 of Series V in the Jean Sibelius Complete Works, published by Breitkopf & Härtel in 2008. ―Itaru Ogawa

He has been composer in residence of the Hyvinkää Orchestra since 1997 and has taught in the Department of Musicology at the University of Helsinki since 1993. 　The "Mythological Suite" was composed in 1979, when Vuori was still a student, at the age of 22, and his composition It was written during the transition to a more modern style. The suite that has three movements "Liekkiö", "Para" and "Ajattaro", is depicted a Finnish mythological creature. 　He replied to me: "I was then (and still) very interested in the mythology of my own country, and the other countries, too. The nature also means something very special to me. I think that there is some nature mythic bottom in many of my pieces, f.ex. in "Kuu kolmessa ikkunassa (The Moon in Three Windows)" and in many orchestral pieces, too. I have had many powerful (and strange) experiences in Finnish forests. In some way they help me to make music, I think". He himself describes his harmonic method as a kind of contrapuntally treated jazz harmony. Wessman is particularly preoccupied with the ability of music to express emotions, an interest which has led him to study the doctrine of the affections and the musical rhetoric of the Baroque era. His output is dominated by chamber and vocal music as well as a number of concertos for various instruments, with an emphasis on creating repertoire for budding musicians, from beginners to young professionals. He also studied with Jean Sibelius for the last two years. He also studied in Paris and Vienna, and in particular the influence of the former can be seen in many of his works. 　His most important works are three symphonies and two operas, "Pohjalaisia" and "Juha". He has also made a major contribution to choral music.

The only exception is the opening movement, 'Maa-aria' ('Earth-Aria') which has an origin from the year 2012. 　The star mandalas of the Japanese esoteric buddhism (mikkyô 密教) are related to the old Chinese astrology. In my composition the role of the planets and star constellations is replaced by several hints to the music history. Two clear examples are the movement called 'EN' (縁, "relationship, destiny") which contains a couple of quotations from the piano piece by Clara Schumann "Variationen über ein Thema von Robert Schumann", and the movement called 'Fondamenta' which contains the Bach chorale "Aus tiefer Not schrei ich zu dir" in the bass voice. In addition the cycle contains connections to my earlier works. The most substantial rewritings are the movement called 'NEN' (念, "one's heart's desire") which is related to the aria 'Red Moon of Venice' from my opera "Madame de Sade" and the movement called 'Myôken' (妙見, "deification of the North Star") which shares the musical material with the third movement of my clarinet piece "Dream Transmission". The concluding movement 'Kokuugen' (虚空眼), "Empty-Space Eye", is a kind of musical protostar, which functioned during the composition process as a matrix of ideas for many of the other movements. ―Juha T. While he is an internationally known pianist, he was also an accomplished composer. Hannikainen studied in many parts of Western Europe, including Finland, Vienna, Russia, Germany, and France. As a pianist, he is strongly influenced by the teachings of the Russian pianist, Alexander Siroti. After that, he and Siroti also toured around Western Europe as a piano duo. Later, he studied under Alfred Cortot in Paris. He also made a significant contribution to education in Finland, where he was the first piano professor at the Sibelius Academy. His pupils include Erik Tawaststjerna, Jonas Kokkonen and Tapani Valsta. In addition to a total of nine unfinished symphonies and more than 250 piano pieces, he also left behind the opera "Aino" and the first full-length ballet "Sininen helmi" in Finland. His compositional style ranges from early National Romanticism to direct quotations of folk songs, impressionism and expressionism. 　He was conductor and director of the Helsinki Conservatory (now Sibelius Conservatory) for 25 years from 1911, but he also had a meditative streak, published a collection of aphorisms "Credo" (Op. 150), and had a penchant for theosophy and mysticism.

He studied composition at the Helsinki Music Institute (later Sibelius Academy) with Erkki Melartin (1912), completing his studies at the Leipzig Conservatory with Max Reger (1912–14) and at the Moscow Conservatory with Sergei Vasilenko (1915–16). Merikanto was teacher at the Sibelius Academy where he was later appointed Professor of Composition. Most Finnish composers born between the world wars were students of his, and his influence was strongly felt. 　Merikanto’s most significant creative period was in the 1920s, when he produced many notable works and gained some international success. His style of this time was a blend of late Romantic, Impressionist and Expressionist elements, with a greater rhythmic complexity and harmonic chromaticism than the Sibelian tradition of the time. It met with bewilderment in Finland, and his music was largely passed over in silence as Merikanto’s contemporaries were working in strictly tonal idioms, and his Central European modernist style was unusual in Finland. Some works of this period began to be appreciated and performed only in the late 1950s and 60s. 　Merikanto changed his style radically in the mid-1930s, and "Kyllikin ryöstö (The Abduction of Kyllikki)" (1934) is the turning-point between his modernist and national Romantic periods. The reasons for the stylistic change were connected with the cool reception accorded to his previous works, the general change in cultural atmosphere, and Merikanto’s declining health. In the 1940s Merikanto composed mainly small-scale music but later developed a new interest in composition after being appointed as Professor of Composition at the Sibelius Academy. At the time he wrote his Third Piano Concerto (1955). 　The "4 Piano Pieces" are not dated as composed, but all of them were published in 1918 by the music publishing company, R. E. Westerlund. ダリル・ゼミソン (1980- )："Sharding" for piano (2020) Daryl Jamieson (1980- ): "Sharding" for piano (2020) ピアノ：小川至　Piano: Itaru Ogawa 　ピアノ作品「sharding」は、2020年5月に逗子にて作曲された。ゼミソン氏曰く、ほぼ毎日1ページのピアノ曲を作曲し、ピアニストたちに1曲づつ渡しているとのこと。この「sharding」もまたそうした作品のひとつであり、ピアニストの小川至に捧げられた。 　本作は非常にシンプルなカノンの構造を取っているが、繰り返される旋律は微妙な変化を伴っている。またその和声は邦楽器である笙が持つ和音（合竹）に基づいている。本作は、作品も始める前にピアノの低音をあらかじめ押さえ込んでおくように指示されている。これにより演奏時に開放された低音弦が共振し、独特な音響空間と佇まいを生み出すこととなる。 　The piano piece "Sharding" was composed in Zushi in May 2020. The composer says he composes a one-page piano piece almost every day and gives it to the pianists one at a time. This "Sharding" is the one of those works, dedicated to Japanese pianist, Itaru Ogawa. 　The work takes a very simple canon structure, but the repeated melodies are accompanied by subtle changes. The harmony is based on the chords of the Japanese musical instrument, the shô. This work is instructed to hold down some bass notes of the piano before the work begins. This creates a unique sound space by resonating the bass strings that are opened up when playing. ダリル・ゼミソン (1980- ) 　ダリル・ゼミソンは1980年にカナダのノバスコシア州ハリファックスに生まれる。カナダ、イギリス、日本で学び、現在は福岡と逗子を行き来しながら活動している。彼の芸術活動は、能楽、日本の伝統楽器、ニューヨーク・スクールにおける作曲の系統を実践的かつ理論的に研究してきたことに根ざしたものである。異文化芸術、共同制作、政治的・社会的環境に芸術を根付かせることに興味を持っている。2013年に異文化的な音楽に触れるための空間である「工房・寂」を設立し、自身の作品や同じ志を持つ作曲家の作品を発表する場を提供している。九州大学助教授。大阪の音楽出版社ダ・ヴィンチ・エディションとカナダ音楽センターから出版されている。 　研究活動も並行して活発に行っており、京都学派の美学、現代音楽と精神性に関する論文を執筆中。2018年、第3回一柳慧コンテンポラリー賞受賞。カナダカウンシル、文部科学省、ヨーク大学などからの受賞、助成多数。 Daryl Jamieson (1980- ) 　Daryl Jamieson (MMus GSMD PhD Ebor) was born in 1980 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He trained in Canada, the UK, and Japan, and currently splits his time between Fukuoka (in the west of Japan) and Zushi (in the east). His artistic practice is rooted in his practical and theoretical studies of Nō theatre, Japanese traditional instruments, and the New York School lineage of composition. He is interested in intercultural art, collaborative creation, and rooting art in the political and social environment in which we live. He founded the intercultural music theatre company atelier jaku in 2013 in order to provide a platform for presenting his own works and those of like-minded composers. He is an assistant professor at Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan. He is published by Da Vinci Editions in Osaka, and the Canadian Music Centre. 　He is also active as a researcher, writing on the aesthetics of the Kyoto School of 20th-century Japanese philosophers, as well as contemporary music and spirituality. Influenced by Alexander Scriabin, his style was too modern for Nordic music circles, and his orchestral work Joutsenet (Les Cygnes - The Swans) of 1919 remained as his sole orchestral piece to be published (in 1938). 　Raitio's profile as a composer slipped, as he concentrated on shorter works for smaller ensembles in the 1930s and 1940s. In private, however, much effort was made by the composer to write operatic works.
